Savignone, the pearl of
the Ligurian Apennines. A city of gardens and
elegant homes. This is how Savignone was defined
in the old advertisement of the 1927 edition of
the Landolina guide, which also specified an
outstanding and enchanting position. |

More than seventy years later, Savignone has not
lost its charm as a tourist destination of the
valley, as it enjoys a privileged position over
other towns, having been constructed on a
gigantic landslide that tumbled from Monte
Pianetto, leveling the area where the first town
centre rose. Now the town territory is divided
into four districts: the centre of Savignone,
San Bartolomeo, Vaccarezza, and Isorelle. The
origins of this town are especially old, as
demonstrated by the ceramic shards found and now
kept in the Archaeological Museum of San
Bartolomeo. These relics date back to the Middle
Bronze Age (XIV century B.C.) and were found
near the Renesso district, while other were
found in two tombs of the 4th century BC in the
Camiaschetta district, and in a Ligurian-Roman
village named after the revival, Refundòu. |
